The location of this project, Av. República, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, is a long urban axis, with a few singular nodes. Two of them are located in the geographic scope of this proposal: an intersection with another major avenue, and a small roudabout over an underpass. On each of this places a metro station was design: D.João II's, wich includes an interface metro-bus, in the first, and Sto. Ovidio's in the last one. The roofs of the stations were designed to be landmark objects in an otherwise average urban place.
D. João II interface will have two platforms, one between the two light rail tracks, and another between a rail track and a bus stop. Both platforms will be completely covered with one waving roof.
In the area around the Sto. Ovidio roundabout the proposal comprises several levels: a new tunnel conecting the avenue to the nearby freeway; the existing underpass, converted for rail and station use, and a new urban square on top replacing the roundabout.
The Sto.Ovidio Station will have two entrances, both covered. In the north there will be a single curve roof, cantilevered, with only two supporting pillars. The south entrance will have two separated roofs.
