The proposal consists of a volume based on cargo containers, by reusing them to integrate a system that accommodates all the basic housing functions, occupying two containers with 11.30x2.55x2.50m (72.04 m3), one comprising the dorms, with a movable bed-closets system, and the other the washrooms, the kitchen and the common areas.
The dorms container allows different layouts by the displacement of the cabinet-beds on rails, adapted to the needs and number of users, with the maximum capacity of 6 individual bedrooms. Various internal arrangements are possible, such as: 3 double bedrooms, 2 doubles and 2 singles, 1 double and 4 singles, or an exceptional case of a single large space with all cabinets collected.
The services container comprises a technical unit with all the basic systems of air conditioning, water and electricity, directly accessible from the outside. Appart from the common room, this container is composed of modular elements that allow the assembly of various internal arrangements. The basic modules available are: the washroom unit, with a shower, the toilet unit, and the kitchen unit, with a sink, a stove, a larder and a fridge.
The structural frame of both containers are identical. The construction was designed in a modular way, allowing not only various interior arrangements, as well as simplifying its assembly through mass production.
The containers are individually transportable, since their dimensions are similar to those of ordinary cargo containers, and can easely be hoisted by a small crane. They do not require any special foundation, and the adjustable feet adapt them to terrain irregularities or small slopes.
