"The project has converted a pre-existing warehouse into a large restaurant in the South Matosinhos area. The inner space was divided into three distinct zones: the entrance / reception, dining area and service area.
The dining area is a kind of box-in-box, not touching the existing ceiling. It is divided into two spaces: a bar and the dining room. The separation between the two areas is not physical, but functional.
The room is spacious, defined by two schist walls and a glass wall that separates it from the entrance area. The inner ceiling is supported by a metal frame and has large translucent areas so as to capture the sunlight that the existing sheed coverage provides to the entire building. The non-planar geometry of the false ceiling promotes the good acoustic behavior of the restaurant."
