"The idea behind the renovation of a complex of industrial constructions built in the last 40 years without a clear unity or unifying idea was to provide Aliança, a well known wine and spirits company in Portugal, with a contemporary-looking public facade, as well as preparing several underused facilities for eno-touristic purposes.
The project aimed at unifying the fronts of several different buildings with a look that echoed the renovated image the brand was implementing.
The design strategy was to clad the buildings with a new composite cladding, and to re-arrange the public space in front of the complex with new urban elements, using the new company logo as leitmotif.
Apart from the facades and external spaces the renovation was extended to the shop and reception areas, including the construction of new rooms for professional and commercial wine tasting.
The cellars were also renovated, making use of existing production spaces in new ways and creating a touristic path underground. In a later phase a new visitors’ reception center is to be built."
